Olive Tree Hotel, Kyrenia, Cyprus — 26 March 2026
Funded by the European Union, the EU One‑Stop Shop project and the Market Surveillance Capacity Development project jointly hosted an awareness‑raising event in Kyrenia, bringing together producers, traders, business associations, and community stakeholders to explore the opportunities offered by Green Line Trade and the importance of safe, compliant products for accessing the EU single market.
Both projects work to strengthen cross‑community economic cooperation, improve product safety and quality standards, and build trust between consumers, producers, and traders across the island. The event highlighted how enhanced compliance and a better understanding of EU requirements can open new commercial pathways for Cypriot businesses.
Participants were provided with practical information on the requirements and opportunities under the Green Line Regulation, while also receiving essential information on product safety, quality and certification standards required for accessing the EU market. In addition, the support services offered through the EU OSS and MSCD projects were introduced; discussions also focused on how to strengthen consumer and buyer confidence between the communities and on concrete steps to expand market access for products while fostering intercommunal business relations.
One of the highlights of the event was a theatre performance that creatively addressed the importance of product safety, consumer protection and trust-building in intercommunal trade. The performance captured participants’ attention by conveying key messages in a memorable and accessible way.
It was emphasised that raising awareness of Green Line Trade opportunities and promoting safe, compliant products are critical for fostering a more resilient and cooperative economic environment. The event attracted strong interest from local producers and traders; participants expressed their interest in further trainings, business support services and upcoming activities to be organised under both projects. The European Union will continue to support activities that promote trust, regulatory compliance and sustainable intercommunal trade, contributing to shared prosperity across the island.
